Sarah Jane Hudson

Sarah Jane Hudson, 92, entered peacefully into rest with the Lord on Saturday, April 19, 2008 at her home. She was born in Sumter, S.C. on October 1, 1915 to the late Luke and Sarah Davis.
She moved to Connecticut in the mid 1960s. She worked for Ash Flashlight Corporation until she retired. She was an active member of the Saint James Missionary Baptist Church where she served faithfully on the Senior Usher Ministry and Senior Choir. After suffering a stroke she continued to serve as an usher, seated in her uniform weekly handing out the church bulletins until she could no longer physically attend services. She invited her beloved ushers into her home for meetings when she was no longer able to leave home.
Sarah had a unique way of sharing family stories that brought laughter to her loved ones. Stories came alive through her humor and they will be missed, cherished and shared.
She leaves to cherish her memory four sons, William E. Hudson Sr. (Wyoma), Bridgeport, CT, Sammie Lee Hudson (Ruth), Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Leroy and Herman Hudson, both of Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Two daughters, Odell H. Kingwood (Willie), Norwalk, CT and Annie L. Hudson, Ft. Lauderdale, FL. She also leaves 32 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren, a daughter-in-law Josephine Hudson, Sumter, SC, a special nephew Luke Davis, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends that will miss her dearly.
She was predeceased by her husband, her sons Robert Jr. and Verdell Hudson, daughter Thelma Hudson, and grandson Willie Kingwood Jr.
She was lovingly cared for by her daughter, Odell for many years, and we give special thanks to her granddaughter Vivian Kingwood, niece Beverly Davis and home health aides, Betty Davis, Catherine Jamison, and Lorraine Antley.

Funeral Services were Saturday, April 26, 2008 at ST James Missionary Baptist Church, 60 Rockland Road, Norwalk, CT; and Interment at Union Cemetery, Norwalk, Connecticut.
