Maebell Hilliard Robert Obituary (1931

Maebell Butler Hilliard Robert, 78, passed away at home with her son Samuel by her side. She was born on August 16, 1931 in Santee, SC to the late John Butler and Charlotte Butler Hamilton. She was married to the late Sampson Moses Robert. Born and raised in Sante, SC, she moved to Norwalk CT in 1952. She worked at the Hat Factory on Spring St. and in 1957 moved to Roodner Court where she began raising her family. She became a housewife and a mother to many, opening her home to anybody in need. She certainly enjoyed fashionable attire and always looked younger than her years. She loved traveling and visiting her family back home. She was filled with generosity, love and a caring spirit. She was loved by all and will be sadly missed. Maebell is survived by ten children: Stephen Butler and Anson Karl Hilliard (Valerie) of Bridgeport; Leroy Hilliard and Theresa Hilliard of Waterbury; Marie Hilliard Ray (Jimmy) of Houston, TX; Donna Hilliard of Putnam; Samuel, Archie and Rosemena Hilliard of Norwalk; Francine Robert of New Haven; 27 Grandchildren and 25 Great- Grandchildren; 2 Sisters, Leola Brown and Elouise Clark and 2 brothers, Joseph and Willie Butler all of Santee, SC and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Maebell was predeceased by a son Charles Hilliard; a brother, Clay Butler Jr. and a sister Wilhelmenia Goodwin. Her brother, Wesley Butler (Julia), left us as well - just hours after she passed way Monday. Funeral Services are 11:00 AM Friday, April 9, 2010 at Calvary Baptist Church, 25 Concord Street, Norwalk, Connecticut; Viewing is 10:00 AM until time of Services at the Church, and Interment following at Park Cemetery in Bridgeport.
