Lewis 'Levi' Smith Whittingham Obituary (1932

Lewis Smith Whittingham was born on October 19, 1932 in Westmoreland, Jamaica, West Indies. He was the son of the late Amos and Esther Whittingham. He departed this life on Thursday, October 18, 2012 in the town of Hamden, Connecticut. Levi was married to the late Simeriah Whittingham for over fifty two years and they lived a wonderful life. Levi leaves six children who will cherish his memory: Denva OMaloney, Heather Whittingham, Junior Whittingham, Leroy Whittingham, Joy Parkins and Lorna Lewis-Whittingham, two brothers, Alex Whittingham of England and Wellesley Whittingham of Jamaica, West Indies, twenty-two grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Levi also leaves to cherish his memory, many nieces and nephews who love him dearly. Levi owned his own shoe making business in Jamaica prior to migrating to the united State in the late 60s. He worked at Consolidate Diesel in Greenwich, Connecticut for six years and then he worked at Ideal shoe Repair in Greenwich for 15 yeas. Levi and his wife later retired and moved to Florida where he worked at Food Lion for another five years. Unfortunately Levi became ill and returned to Connecticut. Levi was a good father and had a unique way of showing his love and admiration. He use to enjoy taking his children to the Race Coast, which is a big field in Jamaica where you would play ball on Sundays. He also enjoyed taking his children to Shippan Beach in Stamford, where the family would sit upon a big rock. He enjoyed swimming and racing with family. Levi's memory will go on forever in our hearts, with no end in sight. He lived a good and fulfilling life. He will be missed by his entire family, especially his children. Services will be held on Thursday, November 1, 2012 at 11am at Grace Baptist Church, 17 West Ave., Norwalk. Calling hours from 10am until time of services. Interment in St. Johns Cemetery, Norwalk.
