John 'Bill' O. Hunter Obituary (2010)

John O. (Bill) Hunter, age 94 of Bridgeport, died on Thursday, January 7, 2010 at Bridgeport Hospital surrounded by his loved ones. John was born in Iva (Anderson County) South Carolina and resided in Bridgeport more than 70 years. He was a member of Mt Aery Baptist Church and served on the Male Chorus, Senior Choir and Trustee Ministry. John was a charter member of the Regular Fellows Civic and Social Club and a life-time member of the NAACP. John was employed for 24 years at Alcoa and retired from Sikorsky Aircraft after more than 30 years of service. He is survived by two daughters, Susie Long (Robert) of Milford, Christine Parks (Roger) of West Haven; two sisters-in-law, Lemie McIntosh and Bennie McIntosh both of Stratford; nine grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his wife of 69 years Carrie Mae Hunter and two daughters Rose E. Saname and Jonnie M. Whitting. Funeral Services are Saturday, January 16, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at Mt Aery Baptist Church, 73 Frank Street, Bridgeport, CT with Rev. Dr. Anthony L. Bennett Officiating. Friends may view from 9:00 A.M. until the time of Services at the Church and Interment will follow in Lakeview Cemetery, Bridgeport.
