Jacqueline D Jenkins

–

Stratford, Connecticut

Jacqueline E. Jenkins (Jackie J.), a lifelong resident of Bridgeport, CT, entered eternal rest on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by family, after a courageous battle.

She was the daughter of the late Jacqueline E. Bridgeforth (Wooten) and the late Raymond Davis. Jackie graduated from Bassick High School and dedicated her professional career to public service. She enjoyed a stellar tenure with the Connecticut Department of Social Services, retiring as Unit Supervisor in 2007.

In addition, Jackie was a proud member of New Era Lodge, Juanita Temple #169 (the Elks) of Bridgeport, CT, where she served in various leadership roles. She had a passion for family and friends, loved traveling, game nights, movies, and truly embraced life to the fullest. Jackie was always ready to lend a hand to those in need.

She was instrumental in establishing the food pantry at Friendship Baptist Church, serving in numerous positions to ensure families in need had access to food. Jackie led with passion, commitment, and love for people. Her greatest reward was knowing that others were in a better position for success because of her efforts.

In addition to her parents, Jackie was predeceased by her sister Carol “Sugar” Anderson; brothers Hawley Eschol Wooten Jr. and Robert Davis; and her nephew Eric Bridgeforth.

She leaves to cherish her memory: her daughter, Audra Davis of Hackensack, NJ; grandchildren Desiree Tucker of Clayton, DE, and Myles Fladger of Hackensack, NJ; sisters Theresa A. Wooten of Richmond, VA, and Tayna Davis of Bridgeport, CT; brothers Gilbert J. Bridgeforth (Christal) of Hamden, CT; Lawrence B. Wooten (Janet) of Richmond, VA; Raymond Davis Jr., Jerome Davis, and Alvin Davis, all of Bridgeport, CT; lifelong friend Carol Olsen of Stratford, CT; and a host of relatives and special friends.

Jackie will be laid to rest at Lakeview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the American Cancer Society in her honor.
