Ashley Renee Summers age 40 entered peacefully into eternal rest on June 24th, 2026, at Bridgeport Hospital. Ashley was born August 9th, 1985, in Stamford CT to Glenda Summers and Leon Summers. Ashley was full of life, love and smiles. She was Nana’s Shug and her sister’s Tanka-Tank. Ashley was the youngest out of her four siblings.
Ashely went to Stillmeadow Elementary School. She then graduated from Westhill High School in Stamford, CT. Soon after graduating high school, she was member of the A.R.I (Always Reaching for Independence) program until she moved to Bridgeport CT.
Ashley was brought up in the Apostolic faith. She was a current member of Faith Outreach Church in Bridgeport, CT, however her church roots started at Good Samaritan Church in Stamford, CT, and journeyed over to Bibleway Church of God in Christ Jesus, in Stamford, CT. She was often called “Bibleway’s Miracle Baby.”
Ashley faced so many challenges growing up. When the doctors said she couldn’t Ashley did. She beat so many odds that came against her. Ashley was truly a fighter, an overcomer and an angel. Many seen Ashley as different, because of her disability and being nonverbal but when you look at the word disability you also see the word ABILITY. Those who knew her and understood her knew she wasn't different at all. She spoke loud and clear. She would cut her eyes at you in a minute. And if you ever experienced her side eye, you knew her side eye was lethal. Either you did something to her, or she simply just wasn't feeling you. Ashley had such a great sense of humor. She would laugh at you in a minute. Ashley loved her Avon books; she always had one in her hand. Ashley loved her French fries, noodles and chips. She also loved doing her chores at home, such as helping with laundry and putting her groceries away. She loved watching gospel music videos on YouTube.
One of the greatest and purest things about Ashley is that she loved worshiping and praising the Lord. When she was younger you would find Ashley twirling and spinning around as the praises went up. Some people used to look at her with such pity as she twirled and danced in church but they never understood that her worship and her praise was for real. Ashley was truly a praiser and a true worshipper. From Elder Wells singing “Yes Lord”. To Bishop Little stomping his feet. To Apostle Bellamy’s preaching. And the Praise Team singing, Ashley would stomp her feet, tap the back of the pew, and raise her hands with a smile. Every time she had the opportunity to praise the Lord, she did with such grace and with a pure heart. Ashley was truly one of God's precious gifts. And we are so blessed that God shared His precious gift with us for 40 years.
