~ THE LIFE OF ANGEL FERNANDO COTTE~
Angel Fernando Cotte entered eternal rest on Friday, February 27, 2026. He was born on September 8, 1942, in Santurce, Puerto Rico, to the late Alexander Cotte and Ubeldina Moolanaar.
At the age of six, Angel moved with his family to New York City, where he was raised and educated. He later began a long and dedicated career with the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA), serving faithfully until his retirement in 2011. In 2021, Angel relocated to Norwalk, Connecticut, to reside with his beloved son and daughter-in-law.
Angel embraced life with enthusiasm and curiosity. He found joy in riding his bicycle throughout the five boroughs of New York City, listening to western music, rolling dice, and cheering for his favorite New York teams—the Knicks, Jets, Giants, and Mets. He also possessed a deep love for history and research, always eager to learn and equally eager to share his discoveries with others. Angel valued financial stability and approached life with both practicality and purpose.
Those who knew Angel will remember his outgoing spirit and engaging personality. Once he formed a bond, he proved to be a loyal and dependable friend. He was generous, kind-hearted, loving, and consistently willing to lend a helping hand. Above all, Angel deeply loved his son and took immense pride in the man he became.
While living in New York, Angel met and married the love of his life, Iris Hicks. Their union was marked by steadfast devotion and enduring commitment, lasting until Iris’ passing.
Angel leaves to cherish his memory his son, Jamel (Alisha) Cotte; his brother, Duke Molina; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Iris Hicks-Cotte, and his parents, Alexander Cotte and Ubeldina Moolanaar.
Though our hearts are heavy with sorrow, we are comforted by the legacy of love, strength, and dedication Angel leaves behind. His memory will live on in the stories he shared, the lessons he taught, and the love he gave so freely. May we honor his life by holding fast to our faith, cherishing one another, and living each day with the same determination and spirit that he exemplified.
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” — 2 Timothy 4:7
