Yanitza Wilburn Obituary (1983 - 2023)

Yanitza Graciela Wilburn was called home by God on March 3rd, 2023 at the age of 39 at Yale New Haven Hospital. She passed away surrounded by her loved ones after her long battle with Lupus. Yanitza or sometimes known as Yani, was born in the Republic of Panama, Panama, but grew up in Bridgeport, CT. She attended Western Connecticut State University where she completed her bachelors in Photography. Being a strong believer in her faith, she, along with the Church Missionary, traveled to Israel where she had the honor of being baptized. Yani was a wonderful daughter to a strong mother, a brilliant sister, and bright light to many more. Most would describe her as adventurous, goofy, strong-willed and a great advisor. She was well-known for her big heart, with so much love and generosity to share. Brought into this world by her mother Jessica Naar and father Arturo Wilburn, she was also raised by her step-father Walter Carrasco. Yani grew up with her siblings, Ari Wilburn, Luis Carrasco and David Carrasco. She was sister-in-law to Ivana Carrasco, and aunt to Aizik Carrasco, Avianna Carrasco and Emalynn Carrasco. She was niece and cousin to many aunts, uncles and cousins. Preceded by her grandma Eneida R. Griffin Mairs. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, March 10, 2023 at 12:00 NOON, Baker Funeral Services Chapel, 84 South Main Street, Norwalk, CT. Family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until time of service at the Chapel. Interment will be private.
