Walter Hall Obituary (1937

Walter Hall, age 76 of Bridgeport, CT departed this earth peacefully on January 27, 2014. He was born on November 9, 1937 in Eagle Rock, NC to the late Herman Hall, Sr. and Maggie High. Walter, a resident of Bridgeport for 53 years was a devoted family man and hard worker. He worked at the Bridgeport Rolling Mills for 30 years as a Shipping and Receiving Clerk Manager. He was a strong believer in going to school, getting your education and going to work. Walter was a HUGE sports fan (NY Yankees and NY Giants) but enjoyed watching all sports. He loved spending time with his family and would always welcome a game of Spades with his cousin Sonny as his partner. He loved spending time with the Old Timers at The Oasis corner store as well as hanging out with Earl and Big Gil at the Boat Yard. Nothing could compare to stopping by his favorite cousin and best friends house (Aunt Ora Lene) to chat and catch up on family affairs. In addition to raising his children, he will forever consider Quantishay, Lil Gil, Eb, Aunt Margies as well as Nikis children as his own. Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 51 years, Daisy Hall and two children; John (Ann) Hall of Temple Hills, MD and Stephanie Hall of Bpt, CT. One sister; Dorothy Mangum of Raleigh, NC. Four brothers; Val K Mangum (Pearlene) of Wendell, NC, Lorenzo (Sweet) Mangum (Pamela) of Zebulon, NC, Robert (Bob) Mangum (Susan) of Providence, RI and Alphonso (Al) Mangum (Narvis) of Warwick, RI. One Brother-in-law; John (Ellen) Burns of Lanham, MD and One Sister-in-law; Emma Lee Hall of Washington, DC. Six Grandchildren; Quantishay, Timothy, Tamica, Tiana, NaTavia and Melvin. Six Great Grandchildren; Timothy Jr, Mekhi, Juliet, Melvin Jr, Zakyhia, and Heiress a host of relatives and friends who will sorely miss him. Walter was predeceased by three sisters; Margie Hall-Brown, Lucille (Polly) Scarborough and Mattie Helen Coley. Four brothers; Irving Hall, Herman Hall Jr, Robert Miles and Donnie Miles. Funeral services are Saturday, February 8, 2014 at East End Tabernacle, 548 Central Avenue, Bpt CT. Viewing times are 9-11am and funeral immediately following.
