Serlena Ovelle Finley Obituary (1925

Serlena Ovelle Finley, 86, of Bridgeport, departed this life on November 12, 2011 at Bridgeport Hospital. She was born to the late James and Georgia Lomax on March 5, 1925, in Abbeville, SC. Serlena attended Abbeville High School in 1938 and later received her cosmetologist license. She married Elijah Finley, Sr. on October 15, 1952 in Greenwood, SC before relocating to Bridgeport. Serlena was employed by American Fabrics until she became a Bridgeport Board of Education employee where she retired. Serlena was an active member of Walters Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church. Serlena is survived by her husband Elijah Finley, Sr.; two sons, Elijah Finley, Jr. of Bridgeport, CT and Dennis (Leandrea) Finley of Sugar Land, TX. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 19, 2011 at Walters Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church, 12 Gregory Street, Bridgeport, CT 06604. The viewing will begin at 9:00 A.M. until time of service at 10:00 A.M. Interment immediately following at Lakeview Cemetery.
