Sam Moore, Sr. Obituary (1936

"Hear my voice when I call, O Lord, be merciful to me and answer me." (Psalm 27:7) Sam Moore, Sr., age 72 of Bridgeport, departed his earthly life Wednesday, September 3, 2008 at Cambridge Manor in Fairfield. He was born July 13, 1936 in Sumter, S.C. to the late William Moore Sr. and Maggie Myott Moore. Mr. Moore attended Sumter County Public Schools and earned credits at Bullard Haven Technical School in Bridgeport. He retired as a machine operator from Avco Lycoming Company after more than 30 years. In 1960, he was joined in Holy Matrimony to Laura Belle Singleton and from this union five children were born. He was a member of Russell Temple C.M.E. Church, and served on the Usher Board. He was a faithful worker until good health failed him. He was also a member of the Doric Lodge #4 F & A.M.P.H. In his quiet way he touched the lives of many and was always willing to help others. He leaves to mourn his wife, Laura Bell Singleton Moore of Sumter, S.C.; two sons, Sam Moore, Jr. (Joyce) of Greenville, N.C. and Master Sergeant Reginald Moore (Eva) of Fayetteville, N.C.; three daughters, Jacqueline Moore, Sharon Moore, both of Columbia, S.C. and Sandra Chandler (William) of Charlotte, N.C.; three grandchildren, Dominique Jovan Moore, Joshua Deon Mooe, and Corlyn Denae Chandler; one brother, William Moore, Jr. of Rembert, S.C.; one sister, Susanna Snow of Bridgeport; nine sisters-in-law, Rosa Lee Moore & Susie Moore of Rembert, SC; Rebecca Moore of Bridgeport, CT; Janet Grant, Lula Mae Singleton, Bernice Hill, Rev. Lillian Reynolds, and Ophelia Spencer of Sumter, SC, Cornelia Collier of Landover, MD; two brothers-in-law, James Morant of Newport News, VA, Jimmy Collier of Landover, MD; two special nephews, Oscar and William Moore of Bridgeport, CT; relatives and friends. Seven brothers Charlie Moore, Robert Moore, Oscar Moore, Lewis Moore, David Myott, Hamilton Moore, Edmund Moore, and two sisters Vernell Morant, and Everlina Weston preceded him in death. Funeral services were 11a.m. Monday, September 8, 2008 at Russell Temple CME Church, 555 Connecticut Ave., Bridgeport. Viewing is 10 a.m. until time of services at the church. Interment in Lakeview Cemetery in Bridgeport.
