Roger Caldwell Sr. Obituary (1918

Mr. Roger Caldwell [known to his friends as Mr. Binks] departed his earthly life on Friday, February 18, 2011 at his home in Stamford, CT. Mr. Caldwell was the son of the late Hubert Caldwell and Lula Haynes Caldwell-Williams. Mr. Caldwell was born on January 16, 1918 in Orangeburg, SC. He was the oldest descendant of the Caldwell Family. He was known to many as a kind generous and giving individual who showed compassion and affection for all whom he met. He was employed by Sarners Department Store in Stamford CT until the closing of the store. Mr. Caldwell was married to the late Oreen Moorer Caldwell, from that union was four children, Louise Caldwell Williams of Norwalk, CT, Lovell Caldwell Bing predeceased, Roger Caldwell predeceased and Josephine Caldwell McArthur of Stamford, CT; their husbands and wife respectively, Willie Williams, James Bing, predeceased, Jacqueline Taylor Caldwell and the Rev. Joshel McArthur. Mr. Caldwell later married Florence Monroe Caldwell, from that union was one son Vincent Lawrence Caldwell of Stamford, CT. Additional children, Mattie Caldwell Santiago of Long Island, NY, Barbara Ann Caldwell Glover of Orangeburg, SC, Roslyn Caldwell Ketter of Benson, NC. and Gail Caldwell of Brooklyn, NY; their husbands respectively, Joe Santiago, Henry Glover and Leroy Ketter. He was predeceased by a brother Fred Caldwell Sr. Orangeburg SC, one sister Mozell Caldwell Kiett of Stamford CT. Predeceased by one grandson Michael A. Williams, twenty-two grandchildren, thirty-two great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, two Uncles, Arthur Haynes of Stamford, CT, Eugene Haynes of Stamford, CT and one aunt Irene Haynes Woods of Stamford, CT; their wives respectively, Margo Haynes, Geraldine Haynes. One godson William Snell of Stamford, CT, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
