Reverend Louise Jackson Obituary (1937

Rev. Louise Jackson was born on July 28, 1937 in Sumter, South Carolina, to the late Peter Dicks, Sr. and the late Mamie Durante Dicks. Rev. Jackson was educated in the Sumter County School District. In 1955, she attended Nashville Business College in Nashville, Tennessee, and graduated in 1957. After college, she visited Connecticut with her family and officially moved to Bridgeport in 1959. Shortly thereafter, she started working at St. Vincent's Medical Center as a floor secretary. In 1961, she met the love of her life, Babe Ruth Jackson, and they married in 1964. Of this union, five children were born: Peter, Keith, Kendrick, Curtis and Jemonia (Ham). In 1967, Rev. Jackson worked at General Electric (GE). In 1971, she joined Jackson Tire Service as a secretary. She worked closely with her husband until the business closed in 1988. Rev. Jackson fell in love with the Lord at an early age. She faithfully attended Russell Temple CME Church in Bridgeport and, in 2002, she became a Traveling Elder. She served her church well (usher, stewardess, church secretary, church treasurer, mass choir, Missionary President for District and local, ministry, volunteered her services to the Lay Ministry, helped feed the community, and faithfully drove the church van and attended District and annual conferences). Along with her husband, she leaves to cherish her memories 3 sons: Keith (Ayana), Kendrick and Curtis Jackson; 2 daughters: Jenise Hunt and Jemonia (Michael) Ham; 14 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters-in-law; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, godchildren and friends. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her son, Peter; 8 brothers: Willie, James, Peter Jr., Irvin, Daniel, Samuel, Joseph and David Dicks; and 1 sister: Rebecca Moore.
