Princess Lavine Obituary (1935

Celebration of Life Service for Deaconess Princess Cannon Lavine Deaconess Princess Cannon Lavine entered into eternal rest on Thursday, December 14, 2017. She transitioned peacefully at her home. She was eightytwo years of age. Princess was born on July 2, 1935 in Opelika, Alabama. She was the second child to the late Albert and Princess Cannon. Princess received her formal education in Opelika, AL. graduating from Tuskegee High School. After moving to Connecticut, where she resided for 58 years she continued her education at Norwalk Community College, earning her a license as a Home Health Aide. Her career as a Home Health Aide spanned over 25 years. While serving in this capacity she also dedicated herself to providing a caring home for her husband and children. Princess was a devoted mother, wife, friend and Christian laborer. She was an active member of the Union Baptist Church for 57 years. Princess participated in many ministries at Union Baptist. She served on the Nurses Aide, Alabama Club, Women Auxiliary, Sanctuary Choir and was a faithful member of the Deaconess Ministry. Affectionately known as "Lady", Princess was a remarkable soul who went out of her way to help others. She put forth her personal excellence in every endeavor. She had many talents such as: making jelly, preserving, baking and sewing. She was an awesome cook and Sundays Soul Food dinners at the house were extraordinary. She loved being in the yard, gardening and growing her own vegetables. Princess leaves to cherish her memories, her devoted husband of 51 years, Minister Omri E. Lavine, two daughters: Anita Crump of Stamford, CT and Jacqueline (Charles) Fuller of Hamden, CT. two Sons: Everett (Lynette) Lavine of Woodbridge, VA and David (Angela) Lavine Sr. of Ashburn, VA. Six grandchildren and two great- grandchildren. Seven sisters: Agnes Preston of Stamford, Ct., Dora (Theron) Brown of Opelika, Al, Addie Jordan of Fayetteville, NC, Katie (James) Cloud of Norwalk, CT. Shirley (Lawrence) Ingram, Fayetteville, NC, Sharon Gilmore of Opelika, AL and Pearl Vinson, Fredericksburg, VA . Three brothers, Nathaniel Cannon of Opelika, AL, Rev Benjamin (Ruby) Cannon of Opelika, AL, Henry Gilmore of Tuskegee, AL. Sister in-law, Jacqueline Cannon of Stamford, CT. Two special friends: Jean Lawson of Stamford, CT. and Johnnie Mae Davis of Stamford, Ct. Her Home Health Companion, Yvonne Jones of Stamford, CT. Princess was predeceased by three brothers, John Albert, William and Cary Cannon and a brother in-law, Deacon Edward Jordan. Princess will be remembered as a faithful Christian, loving wife, caring mother, devoted sister and loyal friend who had a humble spirit. She will be missed by all. Gone From Us My Mommy, Mom and Grandma, we are so sad that you are gone. Our spirits are shattered and our hearts are hurting. We know you are in a better place and that you are now in heaven with Grand- dad, Grandma, Uncle William, Uncle John and Uncle Cary. We did not want to let you go and we tried our best to keep you here with us but God knew best and he called you home to be with him in Glory. We know that you appreciated everything we did to make you happy and comfortable. We miss you, love you and we will see you again someday.
