Preston Lee Epps, Sr. Obituary (1942

Preston L. Epps Sr. affectionally known as Pookie entered into eternal rest on March 15th, 2020 during a stay at Bridgeport Hospital after a brief illness. Preston was born to the Arthur and Mollie Epps in Pinetops North Carolina on March 5th, 1942 he was the youngest of 8 children. Preston was ordained as a minister by his brother Bishop Arthur Epps Jr. in 1986 ; he held the position of Elder in Timothy Chapel during the 1990s and was an Elder in English Chapel Cathedral of Miracles until present. Preston was employed by Avco Lycoming/Textron Lycoming for 20 years with an early retirement after which he became a personal limousine driver. Preston enjoyed long drives, music, singing and family gatherings; Preston was a big sports fan and boxing, football, baseball and fishing were his favorites; in between sports Preston enjoyed watching Judge Mathis. Preston also loved to cook and bake and was well known for his chopped barbecue. Preston leaves to mourn him his beloved wife and best friend of 58 years Joan Epps as well as his four children; two daughters Cheryl Gethers (Terry) of Wallingford CT, and Rosie Johnson (Ernest Jr.) of Bridgeport, CT; two sons Kenneth Epps Sr. (Erica) of New Haven, CT and Preston L. Epps Jr. (Irene) of Bridgeport, CT. Preston also was the proud Grandfather of nine grandchildren; Roquita Johnson, Victoria Johnson of Bridgeport, CT, Dejanelle Johnson of West Haven, CT, Ernest Johnson of Ansonia CT, Kenneth Epps Jr. of Bridgeport, CT, Kendra Epps of Hamden, CT, Simone Epps of Bridgeport, CT, Tamar Coverson-Epps of Seymour, CT, and Tynell Coachman of South Carolina. Preston is also survived by one sister Betty White of North Carolina. Preston also was the proud Great Grandfather of seven great grandchildren; Yazzmare, Rain, Marcus and Markel, Liam, Rylan and Brielle and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews as well as several great, great nieces and nephews.
