Pennie Lee Irby Obituary (1945

Pennie Lee Irby, 76, a native of Boykin, Alabama, and a resident of Bridgeport, Connecticut, went to be with the Lord peacefully on Sunday, August 15, 2021. She was born April 24, 1945, to Addison and Bama Irby. Pennie received her education in the Boykin Public School System. She was employed with the United States Surgical Corporation & Lacey Manufacturing Company where she worked for over 20 years and retired. Pennie loved her family. Pennie was known for her gardening, being social and her infectious laughter. It was not unusual to see her busy doing for others. Pennie is survived by her devoted lifelong partner, Sammie "Roy" Kennedy, and three beautiful children; Ricky Irby, Terrance Irby, and Samantha Irby, all of Bridgeport, Connecticut. One brother, Don Irby(Cathy) of Boykin, Alabama; a stepsister, Lou Ida Bennett & stepbrother, Ernest Bennett; 9 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family & friends to cherish her memory.Pennie was preceded in death by her parents Addison and Bama Irby; stepmother Ella Mae Irby; sons' Dauphin Irby and McNeil Irby; a daughter Pennie D. Irby-Younger; seven sisters; Ida Mae (Sarah) Brown, Mary Etta Brown, Ella Mae Irby, Beatrice Solomon, Rosemary Hooker, Gracie Irby Pettway, Sallie Mae Irby; stepsister Diane Bennett; four brothers; Leon Irby, Willie Lee Irby, Johnnie Lee Irby and Lonnie D. Irby. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at 10:30 AM, Baker-Isaac Funeral Services, 985 Stratford Ave, Bridgeport, CT. Family will receive guest from 9:30 AM until time of the service at the chapel. Interment will take place at Lakeview Cemetery, 885 Boston Ave, Bridgeport, CT. Due to COVID-19 restrictions a limited amount of guest will be permitted in the Chapel. However the family welcomes you to join them on the Live-Stream.
