Mrs. Meredyth Beatrice Rivers) Montara Obituary (1910

Mrs. Meredyth Beatrice (Cox Rivers) Montara age 99 was born in Bridgeport, on June 16, 1910. She was born to the late Julia Blackwell and Munford Cox. She attended Bridgeport Hospital's Nursing School, achieving her Licensed Practical Nursing certification in September 1949. She worked at Bridgeport Hospital on the maternity ward, Private duty in Southport, and St Mary's Convalescent Home in Trumbull as the supervisor (well known to her co-workers and staff members as Monty). Meredyth joined Messiah Baptist Church at a young age, and remained a loyal and dedicated member throughout her life. She is survived by three children Muriel Jean Salter, Jim Rivers and Sally Ann Carter of Bridgeport; nine grandchildren Marcia Salter of Scarsdale, NY, Carol Salter Newton, Mass., Michael Hearst of Bridgeport, Sherry Rivers of New Haven, Denise Rivers of Meriden, Dawn Lewis of New Haven, Crystal Rivers of Bridgeport, James Rivers, Jr. of Ft. Eutis, Virginia and Jade Marie Rivers of Bridgeport, 18 great-grand children and several great-great-grand children. Meredyth was predeceased by her husband Thomas A. Montara, sisters Doris Cox and Octavia Coleman.
