Miriam Grace Van Duzen Obituary (1951

Miriam Grace Van Duzen passed away peacefully on June 28th, 2021 at the age of 69. A lifelong resident of Bridgeport, Connecticut she was born on November 15th, 1951 to Joseph and Muriel Van Duzen. She was educated in the Bridgeport school system and worked for Trumbull Marriot for many years before her early retirement in 1996. Miriam was a member of Messiah Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend Reuben E. Williams. Later in life, Miriam became a member of EnterChange Ministries under the leadership of Reverend Warren Godbolt. Miriam who was affectionally known as Grammy to her grandchildren, Aunt Mimi to her nieces and nephews, was famous for her potato salad and laughter. She was also a big New York Mets fan and loved watching the games with her family. She was sweet, peaceful, and well-received by those she knew or came into contact with. Her family loved her, she loved her family, and most importantly she loved God. Miriam leaves behind to cherish her memory her two children, Demetrius Van Duzen of Connecticut, Danette Jones (Maurice) of Connecticut, and sister Beverly Fletcher of Connecticut. She was also grandmother to Lash Stackhouse, Sontaey Jones, and Maurice Jones IV. Miriam was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Muriel Van Duzen, and her two sisters, JoAnn Borges-Pettway and Robyn Jabulani. She also leaves behind her nieces and nephews, Damon, Janae (Will), Lont, Malik, Joseph, Sonseeahray, Tamar, Tyler, and a host of great nieces and nephews as well as special friends.
