The journey of Mr. Milton Lewis-Lacy began at birth on July 20, 1931, in Clarkton, NC. He was the first born of the late Mr. Mellon Lacy and Mrs. Amelia Lewis-Norwood. Miltons birth merged two cultures, that of the Cherokee Indians and African Americans. As a young man, with the demands of a growing family, Milton decided to leave the slower pace of the southern lifestyle and travel North in search of a better opportunity to provide an easier living for the ones he loved, his family. His move to Connecticut in 1964 brought about a career change from farmer and truck driver to that of a Precious Medalist. The Handy & Harmon Company of Fairfield, CT hired Milton immediately upon his arrival; they were soon to recognize his talents, dedication, and strong work ethic. He retired after twenty-four years of devoted service to the company.
Miltons journey has taken that unexpected curve in the road and now he travels alone. Fortunately, he has left his family and friends with many memories. We remember that he was a people personhe never met a stranger. We remember his awesome tomato gardenhe was still the farmer. He was fun-loving and a self-proclaimed dancer extraordinairehe could cut a rug--his favorite dance was the boog-a-loo."
Milton left us involuntarily, early in the morning on November 5, 2010 at St. Vincents Medical Center.
