Mavis L Nevers Obituary (1922

Mavis Louise Owens-Nevers was born on August 1, 1922 to the late Lillian and Jabez Owens of Galloway district Westmoreland, Jamaica West Indies. She said good bye on Friday May 8th, 2020. She was the fourth of 12 siblings. She attended school in Bethel town Westmoreland and Manchester. After relocating to Kingston, she married Harold Nevers and started her family. She later migrated to Greenwich, CT where she worked as a home maker. She later relocated to Stamford CT where she lived until her passing. Mama, sister May, Mrs. Mavis, aunt May was the strong link that connected her entire family. She had a heart of pure love for those she interacted with. Her entire life was devoted to serving others. She made sure everyone was taken care of. She was the mother of seven children. Her daughter Pamela Nevers-Henry and Husband Harold Nevers predeceased her. Mama was a God fearing mother who raised her children in the knowledge of God. She served the Lord faithfully, church was a very important part of her life. She was a great cook, seamstress and she loved gardening. Mama had a great love for children and animals. She also loved traveling, her most memorable place was Paris, France. She is survived by her children Ancel Nevers, Barbara Nevers, Norma Smith, Earl Nevers, Sherleen Harding and Maureen Nevers. Twelve Grandchildren and three great grandchildren. A host of nieces and nephews in Africa, England, Canada, Jamaica and the USA. She will be forever missed. We wanted her here but God wanted her in Heaven. Mama, we love you and will cherish you in our hearts. Funeral Services will be held private.
