Mary Louise George Obituary (1941

Mary Louise George was born on November 7, 1941 in Hurtsboro, Alabama, to the late R.C. and Louise Calhoun. Mary was the oldest of five children. She attended the Alabama School System. Mary accepted Christ at an early age and joined First Baptist Church in Hurtsboro. She relocated to Norwalk, Connecticut and joined Shiloh Baptist Church, where she served on the Missionary Board, Senior Choir and Gospel Chorus. In 1972 she married Eddie R. George. Mary was a loving and devoted wife and mother. She enjoyed life and embraced it to the fullest. She was caring and an inspiration to everyone she encountered. On Friday, February 1, 2008, our beloved Mary departed this earth. She leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband Eddie; three daughters, Linda (Zachary) Williams of Santee, South Carolina; Bertha Calhoun of Norwalk, Connecticut and Deloris (Bonnie) Mills of New Haven, Connecticut; two sons, Johnnie Calhoun of Fort Mitchell, Alabama and Bernard George of Elizabeth, New Jersey; three sisters, Rosia Wilson, Sadie Richardson and Lillie (Winzer) Teel of Norwalk, Connecticut; eleven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; three sister-in-laws, Christine (Hugh) Burke, of Norwalk, Connecticut; Daisy (Roy) Freeman of Hallsboro, North Carolina and Bertha Jones, of Whiteville, North Carolina; four brother-in laws, Jesse (Gwen) George and Ernest (Wilhemina) George, both of Norwalk, Connecticut; Ledrew (Sue) George of Hallsboro, North Carolina and Eugene (LaVerne) George of Whiteville, North Carolina and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother Tommie Calhoun. Funeral services are 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 5, 2008, at Shiloh Baptist Church, 68 Van Zant Street, Norwalk, Connecticut. Viewing is 5:00 p.m. until time of services at the Church. Interment in First Baptist Cemetery, Hurtsboro, Alabama.
