Luther Green, Jr. Obituary (1947

Mr. Luther Green, Jr., 64 of Bridgeport, CT died Monday, December 12, 2011 at the CT Hospice, in Branford, CT. He was born in Pensacola Florida on November 2, 1947, to the late Luther Green, Sr. and Martha Green Davis. His passing was quiet and peaceful surrounded by family and friends. Luther was educated in the Norwalk school system, and attended Housatonic Community College and Southern Connecticut State University. He served in the US Navy. In the early 1980s Luther founded the Isaiah House in Bridgeport, CT, a Christian rehabilitation facility which still actively serves ex-offenders today. In addition, he also helped establish rehabilitation facilities on various military bases in Spain and Germany. Luther leaves to cherish his memories, his beloved wife, Joleen of 40 years; two sons, Gilbert Green of Rhode Island and Luther Edward Green (Sheron) of Bridgeport, CT; two daughters, Lisa Green of Rhode Island and Ashani Petrizzi of Deerfield, Massachusetts; two sisters, Bessie Brown and Monica Wilkes of Bridgeport, CT; six grandchildren; aunt, Catherine Williams of Newport News, VA; and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will take place Thursday, December 15, 2011 at Grace Baptist Church, 17 West Avenue, Norwalk, CT 06854. Friends may greet the family at 6:30 P.M. until time of service at 7:00 P.M. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Macedonia Church, 70 South Main Street, Norwalk, CT 06854, in memory of Luther Green.
