Leila Hicks Obituary (1947

Leila L. Hicks, 69, entered into eternal rest in West Haven, CT on July 16, 2017. Lelia was born in Mobile, Al and moved to Bridgeport, CT at a young age where she became a career woman. For 25 years, Lelia helped anyone she could to better their lives during her time at the CT Works Department of Labor. Lelia was committed to helping the people of her community find jobs of their interest and protecting them from unfair practices at the workplace. She received many awards for her professional and high quality service. She was a great friend to everyone. Lelia is preceded in death by her mother Caroline Hicks of Prichard, AL, sisters Lucinda Tinsley of Detroit, MI Georgia Mae Hicks-Watson of Mobile, AL, and brother Lee Burton Hicks of Bridgeport, CT. Lelia is survived by her 2 children daughter Christine Marie Hicks of West Haven, CT and son Kevin Hicks of Bridgeport, CT sister Jo-Ann Hicks-Fluckum of Mobile, AL, brothers Bobby James Hicks of Prichard, AL Samuel Hicks of Bridgeport, CT Grandchildren Nicole Hicks of Hamden, CT Natalie Hicks and , Karolynn Williams of West Haven, CT, Kevin Hicks Jr. of Derby, CT 6 Great Grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and a dog named Queeny. Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at 5:00 P.M, Baker-Isaac Funeral Chapel, 985 Stratford Ave, Bridgeport, Connecticut. Family will receive guest from 4:00PM until the time of service at the chapel. Interment will be July 29, 2017 at the Whispering Pines Cemetery in Eight Mile, AL.
