Lawrence 'Pouche' Abraham Gist Obituary (1947

Lawrence A. "Pouche" Gist was born February 12, 1947 in Stamford, Connecticut to the late George and Idella (Boston) Gist. He departed this life on Friday, July 3, 2009 at the Norwalk Hospital in Norwalk, Connecticut. Larry (Pouche) grew up in Norwalk, Connecticut and attended Brien McMahon High School, graduating in 1967. He was an outstanding basketball player not only playing for Brien McMahon High School, and after high school, he played for many industrial leagues including Sorensen and CORE (Congress of Racial Equality). He worked for many years at Yankee Metal Products and Pepperidge Farms, where he retired in 2002. He met and married Robyn Y. Boyd Gist on October 14, 1978 and was the proud father of three daughters, Sharon Denise Joyner of Hillside, New Jersey; Melanie Nicole and Tara Michelle Gist of Norwalk, Connecticut. In addition to his wife and children, he leaves to cherish his memory three grandchildren, Autumn Perry and Anessa Varandas of Norwalk, Connecticut and Shayla King of Hillside, New Jersey. two sisters, Mary Gist of Norwalk, Connecticut and Geraldine Holmes, of New Canaan, Connecticut; four brothers Ben Cummings, Orangeburg, South Carolina; Cleo Cummings, Manhattan, New York; Anthony Gist, Bridgeport, Connecticut; and Isaac Mazone, Kingstree, South Carolina; two aunts Julia Gist, Greenlyville, South Carolina; and Gracie Brown, Norwalk, Connecticut; a special brother and sister Richard C. and Jean Carol Carter, Norwalk, Connecticut; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Funeral Services are 11:00 AM Thursday July 9, 2009 at MT Zion Baptist Church 96 South Main St, Norwalk, Connecticut with Rev.
