Gladys Patricia Robinson Green Obituary (1940

Mrs. Gladys Patricia Robinson Green, daughter of the late Mr. Patrick Robinson and Mrs. Rebecca Robinson Cooke, was born on June 2, 1940, in Camden, South Carolina and entered into Eternal Rest on March 16, 2009 at St.Vincents Medical Center in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Sister Green graduated from Jackson High School in Camden, South Carolina and moved to Connecticut in her early 20s during which time she worked at Supreme Slippers, where she met & married her husband, Barney R. Green. She studied nursing and worked at various nursing homes. She joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church in the early 1980s, where she was a faithful and consistent member and held many positions within the church. She was a Missionary, a Deaconess, a member of the Courtesy Auxiliary Board, Senior Choir, and a member of the Court of Calenthe. Gladys suffered a number of ailments, including strokes, heart attacks and diabetes but would always remain strong and bounce back from her many bouts with death; like the fighter whom she was, she bravely closed her eyes and fought her last battle, as she knew God needed her more than we did. Such a great Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Auntie, niece, cousin and friend too many people of all ages and she loved & enjoyed them all. She loved to cook, feed and take care of every one she came in contact with (strangers included). She had such a great heart and a fun sense of humor. She was known by some for a hot press & curls and doing Jheri Curls for her friends. While laughing, joking and cooking, shed watch her Jeopardy, her news, her sports and her Perry Mason, as well as watching movies at home with her family as long as the movies didnt have snakes in it! She leaves to cherish her memory her loving and devoted husband of 41 years, who retired early to take care of her, Barney Ray Green, Sr., four children, Berryl D. Edwards (Dennis), Barney R. Green, Jr. (Diedre), Memmorye L. Green and Mellodye L. Green-Ragin (John), She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Lottie Belton of Camden, SC and one adopted brother who was her nephew, Mr. Leslie Robinson, Jr. She is predeceased by 4 sisters, Ms. Rebecca Robinson, Mrs. Esther Boyd, Mrs. Edna Frazier, Mrs. Francis Reed and is predeceased by 6 brothers, Mr. Patrick (Boo) Robinson, Mr. Leslie Robinson, Mr. Paul Robinson, Mr. Javell (Feet) Robinson, Mr. Moses Robinson, and Mr. Edward Robinson. Survived by 7 grandchildren, Crystayl, Dontae and Iesha Edwards, Theodore (PeeJaye) Briggs IV, Phillip Jones, Jr. Khennedee Green & Venita Bledsoe, predeceased by two grandchildren, Andre and Anton Green. She also leaves to cherish a host of Nieces, Nephews, relatives and friends....
