Fred D. Gee Sr Obituary (1945

Fred Douglas Gee Sr. was born on March 28, 1945 in Effingham, South Carolina to Lewiller Paul and the late Marion Williams and the grandson of the late Theodore (Venus) Gee. He traded Time for Eternity November 26, 2017 at Milford Hospital. Fred attended the Florence County public school system, and in 1965 he moved to Bridgeport, CT with his uncle, the late Benny Gee, to find work at one of the manufacturing plants in the city of Bridgeport. In that same year, he gave his life to Lord and submitted to the leadership of Elder Wilmon Best, and became a member of the St. James Pentecostal Church. It was there that Deacon Gee developed his hunger for the word of the Lord and began to study the scriptures daily. He served Pastor Best in any capacity that was asked of him. Not long after, Pastor Best recognized his servants heart and ordained him Deacon in the Lords Church. Deacon Gee loved being a deacon and he took immense pride in serving his local church. In 1969, he joined in holy matrimony to Mattie Loretta McBride. From this union, their two children were born, Fred Jr., and Tomeekha Ann. He served faithfully for 48 years under the leadership of Pastors in the region; the late Elder W. Best, the late Bishop V. E Kipping, the late Bishop Jeremiah Covington, the late Bishop Matthew A. Barber (Brother in-law), Pastor Roger Wilkins, Pastor Wilburt Best Jr. and Bishop C. H. Brewer Jr. Fred had a profound love for the word of God. He loved to teach Sunday School and he loved to hear men and women of God expound on the holy scriptures. He was known for his intense theological discourse about the word of God. He enjoyed cooking, grilling and family gatherings. He loved baseball, fishing, good gospel preaching, choirs and quartet singing. He had an extensive album collection with some of his favorite artists, James Cleveland, Walter Hawkins, The Mighty Clouds of Joy and Willie Neal Johnson & The Gospel Keynotes just to name a few. In 2007, he retired from American Frozen Foods where he was a truck driver for 36 years. Fred was awarded driver of the year 7 times during his tenure as a truck driver. He leaves to cherish his memory and extend his legacy, his loving mother Lewiller Paul, his 2 children; Fred Jr. (son), Tomeekha Ann (daughter), and his devoted God-daughter Joanne Kipping. 6 grandchildren; Myles, Jazmyn, Tiana, Justin, Fred III and Malachi, two Aunts; Gloria Hall of Orange, NJ, and Thomasina Dreher of Florence, SC; one Uncle, Henry Edward Gee of Jacksonville NC. Fred had the privilege of raising and fathering several of his nieces and nephews; Georgia Ann McBride of Oak Hill, AL, Marilyn Wagner of Raleigh, NC, Stanley McBride and Mary Rossell Brown both of Youngsville, NC and Bishop Mark Freeman of Racine, WI. Six sister-in-laws; Pastor Mary Lee, June Williams, Evelyn Johnson, Lola Wilson, Ann Dawson and Barbara Freeman. Deacon Gee will be greatly missed by family, friends, and his church family The IMPACT Church, where his son Fred D. Gee Jr serves as Pastor.
