Flora J Bethea-Greene Obituary (1924

Flora .J. Bethea Greene, age 89 of Norwalk, Connecticut departed peacefully on February 11, 2014 at home. She was born March 28, 1924 to the late Andrew and Lula Bethea in Dillion County, South Carolina and was one of seventeen children. Flora was a faithful member of Bowling Green United Methodist Church in Dillion, SC until she relocated to Norwalk. After moving to Norwalk she attended Macedonia Church until her health failed. Flora Jane received her education in the public school of Dillion County and she was employed by the Dillion County Pubilc Schools for more than thirty years before her retirement. Flora loved children and her family. Flora first married the late Cornelius Evans then later in life she met and married the late General Greene. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great great-grandmother. Flora leaves to mourn and cherish her memory; three sons Johnny Evans (Elizabeth) of Norwalk, CT, Kenneth Greene and Garrick Bethea of Dillion, SC; one daughter Vera Evans Greene of Norwalk, CT; nine grand children Tawana Evans Ruffin (Dallas), Theresa St. Victor (Stanley), Anthony Greene (Nilsa), Tonia Taylor (Shawn), Dieterick Greene (Sylvia), Kherlopian Greene, Kenaz Greene (Eva), Keyanna Greene and Garrick Bethea Jr; fourteen great grand children and four great great-grandchildren, three sisters, one brother, and a host of relatives and friends. Flora was predeceased by three sons Willie Preston Evans, Cleveland Olendus Bethea and Restyne Donell Greene. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Funeral services will be held at Calvary Baptist 21 Concord Street Norwalk, CT February 18, 2014 with calling hours from 10am to 11am funeral to follow. Interment at Park Cemetery, 620 Lindley Street Bridgeport, CT.
