Fishburn Andrew Wellington Obituary (1939

Birth Fishburn Andrew Wellington, known as Boyie to some, and Fish, or Ton to others, was born on Septemeber 3, 1939 to the late Martha Petuna Harvey & Charles "Charlie" Wellington in St. Andrew Jamaica. Boyie spent his childhood living in August Town Jamaica, were he attened Grove All age primary, basic, and high school. He was the fourth of eight children. His siblings, William "Lucky" Robinson (Deceased 2014), Uriel Wellington (UK), Derrick Wellington (UK), Joyce Miller (Jamaica), Adele "Gloria" Lindo (UK), Jeneva "Pansy" Burton (Deceased 2000), Winsome Wellington- Bromwell, and Sheila Taylor. Young Adulthood Thereafter, as a young adult, from 1960 to 1968, Boyie was a faithful worker at the University of the West Indies (UC), in Jamaica as a cook. He gradually gained a passion for cooking his favorite dishes such fish, curry goat and soup. He also loved blending natural fruits to make fruit juices. Boyie loved his herbs. Anyone who knew Ton knew that he enjoyed entertaining his friends and family. He believed that good food and music would bring everyone together with peace and love. Family was everything. Love Before departing Jamaica, Boyie married his first wife Erma. The two married on April 20, 1970. They first met when Ms. Erma was a paitent at the University Hospital and of course Boyie was the chef. He delivered her lunch tray to her room were the cordially said hello. They met once again passing each other in Kingston, Jamaica. On January 10, 1972, Boyie and Ms. Erma had their first daughter together, Tracey Wellington. Life in America Boyie decided he wanted to give his wife Erma, daughter Tracey, and two step children Chairmaine Edmonson and Hansford Brown a decent life with a great education. Soon after, Boyie was granted to come to the US, where he migrated to Stamford Connecticut. He was dedicated to giving his family the life he dreamed of back home in Jamaica. He worked day and night as a chef at the Stamford Hospital. He was also employed as a construction worker, were he took part in the building of Macy's and JC Penny at the Stamford Mall. Successfully he made his wife and family happy by bringing them to the US. on June 1, 1975, Boyie was blessed with his first son Errick James Wellington. His family was complete Boyie was grateful for his blessings. He later remarried the late Joan Brown of Norwalk, Connecticut. Fishburn Wellington leaves behind, two children, Delfena "Tracey" Wellington and Errick Wellington. Two step children, several grandchildren, three step grandchildren, two great grandchildren Kaylee Morris and Zhyir Wellington. A message from Winsome Boyie or Fish as he was fondly called was a very caring, loving and giving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. There were absolutely no limits to what he would do to make his family and friends feel secure and happy. Thank you big brother, for being there and caring for me through the most difficult time of my teenage years when our mom passed, you were one step ahead to make me feel happy and secure. I could always count on you, "JOB WELL DONE". You will be missed dearly and cannot be replaced. You are in better place, no more suffering Fish, Rest in Peace. Winsome A viewing will be held, Friday, September 25, 2015 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Baker-Isaac Funeral Chapel, 985 Stratford Avenue, Bridgeport, CT 06607. Saturday, September 26, 2015 at 9:00 am will be Funeral Services at Baker-Isaac Funeral Chapel with burial following in Riverside Cemetery, Norwalk, CT. A gathering will follow the viewing and the burial at 172 Sunshine Circle, Bridgeport, CT 06606.
