Evol M Genias Obituary (1959

EVOL M. GENIAS (aka Juju) entered into eternal rest on Thursday, November 2, 2017. Evol was born on February 6, 1959 in Kingston, Jamaica to the parents of Egburt (deceased) & Enid (Clarke) Genias. In 1970, at the age of 10, Evol and his father and siblings moved to Norwalk, Connecticut from Jamaica to reunite with his mother. He attended Norwalk Public Schools and during his tenure at Norwalk High School he was the all-time scoring basketball player receiving an athletic scholarship to college. He also attended Porter and Chester Institute. In his early years, Evol was a member of the Grace Episcopal Church in Norwalk, CT, later becoming a member of Messiah Baptist Church in Bridgeport, CT. In 1996, Evol married the love of his life Shelia and from this union produced a son Jordan ONeill in 1998. Evol was a hard worker. At an early age he was employed by UPS. Then becoming an entrepreneur owning his own business First Choice Cleaning Service LLC for over 20 years. He was an avid collector and sports enthusiast and the things he enjoyed most were following his favorite basketball (Cleveland Cavaliers), baseball (NY Yankees) and football (NY Giants) teams. His other hobbies also included, coaching for the Norwalk Biddy Basketball League. Those who knew him best will remember his love for motorcycles, participating in truck shows which he would always enter his beloved "Sweet n Low" (usually taking 1st & 2nd place). He was most remembered for being a jack of all trades (able to fix and build anything). Left to cherish his memories, are his wife of 21 years Shelia DuPree-Genias; a son Jordan ONeill Genias of Bridgeport, CT; 2 daughters, Shanika Genias and LaTashia Stradford-Wright (Nate) both of Norwalk, CT; his mother Enid Genias of Bridgeport, CT; 1 sister, Olphia Barnes (Earl) of Rochester, NY; 2 brothers Garfield Genias of Apex, NC and Edward "Teddy" Genias of Rochester, NY. Eight (8) grandchildren and many uncles, aunts, in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his father Egburt Genias and sister Zan Rose Genias-ONeil.
