Ethel McNeil-White Obituary (1928

Ethel McNeil-White Ethel McNeil-White was born on May 26, 1928 in Walterboro S.C. to the late Edgar McNeil Sr. and Rachel Walker McNeil. Ethel came to Stamford at a very young age. Ethel graduated from Stamford High School in 1946. Ethel joined the United House of Prayer at age 12, and was one of the first members of the Maids Auxiliary under the leadership of the late Bishop C.M. Grace. Ethel became extremely independent at a very young age. She was a domestic engineer and a home care assistant. Ethel leaves behind several nieces and nephews to cherish her memories, Dale McNeil and Valerie McNeil of Stamford, CT, Robert McNeil of Norwalk, CT, Marcia McNeil of Bridgeport, CT and Albert Barrett of Philadelphia, PA. She also leaves behind several aunts and uncles, Rosena Wright, Mamie Lingard, Lillie Mae McNeil, Maggie Wright, Effie Powell, Hubert McNeil and Samuel McNeil all of Stamford CT, Jane Avery of West Haven CT. A special friend Odessa Ampson of Stamford, CT is also left. Besides her parents, two brothers Ellis McNeil, Edgar McNeil, Jr., her godson Robert Cummins and former husband Ernest White predeceased Ethel. Memorial Services are 10:30 AM Saturday, January 2, 2010 at Woodland Cemetery Chapel with Elder Timothy Holtzclaw, Pastor of United House of Prayer for All People, Stamford, CT Officiating. Interment of Cremains will be in St. George's Mausoleum following the Service.
