Edward P. Bullard II Obituary (1923

Edward P. Bullard II, age 85, of Trumbull, CT departed this life on Sunday, May 3, 2009 at St. Vincents Hospital. Edward was born June 8, 1923 in Greensboro, North Carolina and was the son of the late Abigail Johnson and Edward P. Bullard I. He spent his youth in both New York and North Carolina and had been a Connecticut resident for over 55 years. After graduating from high school, Edward served in the U.S. Army during World War II. After service in the army, he attended Hampton University in Hampton, VA, graduating in 1952 with a B.S. degree in Trade Education. He worked as a Quality Control Inspector for the Avco Corporation in Stratford and attended Bullard-Haven Technical School to obtain additional certifications. Edward spent the majority of his work career with the U.S. Federal Government, retiring in 1990 as a Contract Administrator with the Defense Contract Management District NE after 35 years of service. One of Eds favorite activities was bowling. He joined the government bowling team in 1960 and bowling became a lifetime sport. Most recently, he was an active and dependable member of the Senior League at the Nutmeg Bowl in Fairfield. Ed was a loving and caring father, grandfather and friend and will be sorely missed by all those whose lives he has touched. He is survived by his daughter, Courtney B. Parks and husband, James Parks, Jr.; two granddaughters, Devaki and Jana Parks; devoted companion and friend, Eunice Sowell; niece, Diane B. Noble (Tyrone); sisters-in-law, Gwendolyn Benvie, Margaret McIntosh, and Marion McIntosh; brother-in-law, Bertram McIntosh (Lenda) and numerous relatives and friends. His wife, Shirley M. Bullard his son, Edward P. Bullard III (Buddy) and his brother, Roland Bullard, predeceased him. The family extends a special appreciation to Eds long-time physician and support, Dr. Hervey Weitzman, Eds other skilled and caring physicians, and the staff at St. Vincents Hospital for their compassionate care. Funeral services are 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 9, 2009 at Walters Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church, 12 Gregory Street, Bridgeport. Viewing is 9:00 a.m. until time of Services at the Church, and Internment following Services at Lakeview Cemetery, 885 Boston Avenue, Bridgeport with Full Military Honors.
