Eartha Dunbar Obituary (1934

Eartha M. Dunbar Age 77 of Richmond, VA departed this life on November 24, 2011; at Memorial Regional Medical Center, Mechanicsville, VA on Thanksgiving Day, her favorite day of the year. She was born on November 21, 1935 in Barnwell, S.C. and was predeceased by her beloved parents Emanuel and Concerslia B. Dunbar. She was a resident of Bridgeport, Connecticut where she made her home for more than a century until 2005. She worked as a home health care provider as a young woman, showing compassion and concern for her patients. Prior to retiring from the workforce she was employed at Vitramon Inc., Monroe, CT. However, her work ethic and loving nature never ceased as Eartha served as a childcare provider for many children and loved ones in the Bridgeport Community. She was baptized and became an active member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Shearon Dudley. She remained faithful until 2005 when she decided to relocate to Richmond,VA. with her daughter and granddaughter to continue raising her grandchildren. She was well known for her love of cooking and wanting to not only feed her family but the whole community. Eartha was preceded in death by a devoted son Kenneth Daryl Jones. In addition she was predeceased by 6 sisters and 4 brothers. She leaves behind many that will honor her memory; 5 children; Samuel L. Dunbar of Bridgeport, CT, Consuella B. Jones of Richmond, VA , Rhonda K. Jones of Bridgeport, CT, Timolyn Dunbar of Bridgeport, CT, James L. Porter of Waterbury, CT , 14 Grandchildren and 10 Great-grandchildren; also 3 devoted sisters Consuella"Connie"Mills and her husband Marcus Mills of West Haven, CT, Ora L. Wilson of Sacramento, CA, Elease Lord of Augusta, GA a special aunt Mozella Brown of New York City, a very special niece, Ruth Perrin of Bridgeport, CT and two very dear friends Alice Jeffries and Mary Anthony of Bridgeport, CT. Memorial Services will be held on Thursday, December 1, 2011 @ Baker Isaac Funeral Home, 985 Stratford Ave., Bpt., CT 06608 @ 6pm.
