Doris M. Carter, a resident of Stamford, CT since 1998, passed away in Stamford Hospital on July 19, 2007, surrounded by her children. Doris lived most of her life in Philadelphia, PA, where she was born on October 25, 1926. She was the eldest child of David and Emma Summers Milburn. Doris married Howard A. Carter, Sr. in 1945. Doris and Howard were blessed with 52 years together, until Howards death in 1997. Two sons, Howard, Jr. and Phillip Bruce, two daughters, Connie Armstead, and Karen Carter, 9 grandchildren and 14 great-grand children, survive her. Friends may call from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 24, 2007 at Bethel A.M.E. Church, 150 Fairfield Ave, Stamford, CT. A Home-Going Service will take place on Friday, July 27, 2007in Philadelphia, PA at 10:00 a.m., with viewing at 9:00 a.m., at The Church of the Messiah, Reformed Episcopal Church, 198 East Herman Street (at Morton St.).
