Curley Mae Cannady Obituary (1920

Curley Mae Cannady was born in Shelby, Mississippi on Feb. 27, 1920 to Robert Bradley and Evaline Williams Bradley. Curley Mae was a devoted mother to her only son, Melvin (J.W) Jones. During her young adulthood, Curley Mae left the South and headed to Stamford, CT, where she was a resident for over 40 years. During her time in CT, Curley Mae joined Greater Faith Tabernacle Church where she has been a member for the past 20 years. Curley Mae worked hard most of her life. She believed it is important to treat people right and to do for yourself as much as you can, for as long as you can, and to keep on moving. She taught her family by her example to be happy and content with what you have and that it does not matter how much you make, but what you do with it. She demonstrated through her life what was most valuable to her in the world - God, family, people, and relationships. It was her strong faith in God that was the key to her longevity. Curley Mae Cannady, beloved grandmother, departed this earth on October 10, 2020 at 2:45 PM at the blessed age of 100 years old. She was predeceased in death by her beloved son, Melvin (Mamie) Jones; and her siblings Hattie Mae Bradley Lynom, Robert Bradley, Jr., and James Bradley. She leaves to cherish her memory: grandaughters Esther (Billy) Dawson of West Chester, Ohio, Anita (Nathaniel) Burnes of Tewksbury, MA, and Cynthia (Bernard) Barksdale of Concord, NC; grandson Gregory M. Jones of Stamford, CT; eight great grandchildren; and six great great grandchildren. Curley Mae leaves a legacy of strength, perseverance, hard work and a love of music. Her strong-will, strong mind and strong faith saw her through 100 years. Today, Curley Mae is with God, the angels and her beloved son. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, October 16, 2020 at 11:30 AM, Baker Funeral Services, 84 South Main St. Norwalk, CT. Family will receive guest from 10:30 AM until time of service at the Chapel. Interment will take place at Woodland Cemetery, 66 Woodland Place, Stamford, CT. Final Viewing and Funeral Services will held at Baker Funeral Home in Norwalk, CT. on Friday, October 16, 2020. The viewing will be held from 10:30 a.m. 11:30 a.m. The funeral will be held from 11:30 a.m. 1:00 p.m. The internment will occur immediately following the funeral service at Woodlawn, Cemetery in Stamford, CT.
