Cawthorn Smith Obituary (1962 - 2023)

Cawthon Smith was born in Bridgeport CT to Helen Hall and the late Alonzo Smith. He was a self-made machine shop owner from Norwalk CT, died unexpectedly on Sunday September 3, 2023 at the age of 60. Cawthon attended Harding High School in Bridgeport CT, then relocated to Norwalk CT. He attended Norwalk High School and transfered to Wright Technical Institute in Stamford CT. He graduated as a machinist/tool and die maker. His trade taught him all the skills necessary to build his own successful company. Tool Logistics, and Tool Logistics II, both in Norwalk CT. Cawthon was in business for over 25 years. He specialized in producing various components for his vendors that had capital equipment of their own that required engineering and manufacturing support. Additionally, he was an impeccable welder, master machinist and assembly person in mechanical components. He holds a patent in Coding Design. Cawthon had a love and passion for his dogs, all of which were German Shepherds for over 40 years and, his dream was to become a licensed AKC registered breeder for German Shepherds. He is survived by his mother, Helen Hall; his twin brother, Hawthon (Carmen) Smith from Norwalk CT; his sisters, Helena Shiggs Evans from Bridgeport CT, and Vera (John) Maximin, from Stratford CT; and several nieces and nephews. Cawthon is also survived by his additional siblings, Sharon Smith Baker, Gail Smith, Malachi Louis, Deborah (Kenneth) Boykin, Matthew Louis, Jacqueline Louis, and Barry Louis. He is predeceased by his father, Alonzo Smith, stepfather Samuel "Decker" Hall, and five brothers, Jessie Shiggs, Anthony Shiggs, and Darryl "King" Smith, Alonzo Jr Smith, and Barry Smith. Cawthon's homegoing is Friday September 15, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Baker Funeral Services, 84 South Main Street, South Norwalk CT. Repass to follow immediately after the service at Calvary CBC Hall, 20 Concord Street, South Norwalk CT. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until time of service in the Chapel at Baker Funeral Services. Interment will be private.
