Barri Craig Moore Obituary (1956

On August 23, 2013 at 5:22 A.M. GOD saw that Barry was weary, so He sent an angel to whisper in his ear it's time to come home. Barri was born on March 6, 1956 in Farmville, NC to the late James C. and Kathryn Moore. In 1961 Barri moved to White Plains, NY with his parents. Barri was educated in White Plains Public School District. He played basketball and football from elementary school to high school, and graduated in 1974. Barri was employed with the White Plains Public School District from September 1, 1983 as a Supervising Teacher Aide and then retired on August 20, 2013. He loved working with children never wanting to retire but due to health conditions he was forced to do so. He also worked for the White Plains Recreation Department as a Recreation Leader from June 1977 to September 2012. Barri was an avid fan of the New York Giants and the Los Angeles Lakers. He would put on his jersey and and hat to sit in his living room to watch his favorite teams play. Barri became a dedicated member of Allen A.M.E Church 65 Fisher Avenue, White Plains, NY in 1980. He served as a member of the choir, the Steward Board and the Trustee Board. He also was the Men's Day Chairperson. Barry received an award on February 14, 1998 by Beta Alpha Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. as a Civic Leader in his community for citizen of the year. On March 8, 2003 Barri received an award from the Mount Hope A.M.E Zion Church Men's Day Committee in appreciation of his loving devotion to his church, congregation and community. Barri leaves to cherish his memory two sisters Jamesetta Nixon (Dwight) of Fayettville, N.C. Karen Moore (Willie) of White Plains, NY. Three nephews Duane Nixon(Natasha), Brandon Nixon, Akaieem Nixon (Jayne) One niece Chane' Mack, Three great-nephews Devon, Darian and Dillion Nixon. Two great nieces NaJae' and Na'Kai Mack-Wideman. One uncle William Moore, Two aunts Frances Moore and Nina King. One great aunt Odessa Cooper. And a God Daughter Schnell Reed Garrett and a host of cousins and friends. Friends may greet the family on Thursday, August 29, 2013 at Mount Hope A.M.E. Zion Church 65 Lake Street, White Plains, NY 10604 from 6:00 PM-9:00 PM. Services will be held on Friday, August 30, 2013 at the church at 11:00 AM. Interment immediately following service at White Plains Rural Cemetery 167 North Broadway, White Plains, NY.
